Sebastian Karlsson and Mateo Maraš, future Paris Saint-Germain Handball players
Paris Saint-Germain handball is delighted to announce the arrivals of Swedish right-winger Sebastian Karlsson and Croatian right-back Mateo Maraš, who will join the Club at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. The two internationals have signed two-year contracts.
SEBASTIAN KARLSSON: AN EXPERIENCED INTERNATIONAL WINGER
A product of the youth academy at IK Sävehof in Sweden, Sebastian Karlsson had his first experience abroad at the age of 17, playing for Spanish side Gades in 2012-2013. He then returned to his boyhood club for a ten-year spell, winning two league titles, a Swedish Cup and an EHF Challenge Cup.
The right-winger was voted into the Swedish league's All Star Team in 2022 and 2023, before signing for Montpellier Handball. He will be leaving that club to join Paris Saint-Germain handball in a few months' time.
Sebastian Karlsson and his national team won the bronze medal at the 2024 European Championships in Germany.
"I'm really excited about the prospect of playing for Paris Saint-Germain Handball. It's a great club with huge ambitions and I can't wait to contribute to its success by bringing my experience to the court. I'm determined to do my best to add to the team's record of achievements - and thrill the fans."

MATEO MARAŠ: A CAREER ON THE RISE
Mateo Maraš began his professional career in his home town of Split (Croatia), signing for RK Balic-Metlicic in 2018. Two years later, the 23-year-old right-back headed to Northern Macedonia to sign for Eurofarm Pelister and then, in 2022, he signed for MOL Tatabanya KC in Hungary.
With the Croatian national team, the Paris-bound player earned his first cap in April 2021, in a match against Slovakia, where he scored four goals. He went on to play in the European Championship the following year, the World Championship in 2023 and the Euro again in 2024, scoring nine times.
"Joining Paris Saint-Germain Handball is an exceptional opportunity for me. To contribute to the momentum of such a talented team, made up of world-class players, is a real honour. This new chapter in my career will be a milestone. I can't wait to arrive in Paris next summer and defend the colours of Les Rouge et Bleu."

About Paris Saint-Germain Handball
Founded in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain is the most successful club and sports franchise in France and one of the top clubs on the European stage. Owned by Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) since 2011, the club has achieved spectacular results on and off the pitch. Led by its first team, Paris Saint-Germain is an all-round, forward-thinking club with teams in esports, judo, women's football and handball.
Since its takeover by QSI in 2012, the handball section has become one of the top teams in European handball, winning 23 domestic titles and qualifying for the Final4 of the EHF Champions League six times in eight seasons. Over the years, the team has included some of the world's best players in its squad, including Mikkel Hansen, Luc Abalo, Thierry Omeyer, Daniel Narcisse and the Karabatic brothers, and has strengthened its position by developing young talent from its youth academy. This strategy has led to new records being set, such as the perfect season in the league in 2021-2022, with thirty wins in as many matches.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the whole of Paris Saint-Germain is committed to creating a positive social impact through PSG For Communities, with the intention of allocating funds and proposing initiatives dedicated to empowering disadvantaged young people.
