Luc Steins at Paris Saint-Germain through to 2029
Paris Saint-Germain Handball is delighted to announce the extension of Luc Steins' contract. The Dutch centre-half is now tied to the Club through to 30 June 2029.
Luc Steins joined Paris Saint-Germain Handball in 2020 as a medical joker following Nikola Karabatic's injury, and an agreement was subsequently reached in March 2021 for him to sign a three-year contract with the Parisian club. A true connoisseur of the French league, having played for Massy, Tremblay and Toulouse before joining Les Rouge et Bleu, the Dutchman quickly established himself as one of the key elements of the Parisian game.
During the 2021 season, he played a decisive role in PSG Handball's winning the French league and Coupe de France double, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2021. Since joining the club, Luc Steins has added a number of prestigious titles to his list of honours, including four French Championships, two Coupes de France and a Trophée des Champions.
Crowned the Liqui Moly Starligue's best player for three seasons in a row (2021, 2022 and 2023), the centre-half has become a veritable leader of the Parisian attack with his ability to orchestrate fast transitions. After several successful years with the club, Luc Steins' extension bears witness to the mutual trust between the player and Paris Saint-Germain Handball, and confirms his role as a key member of the team. His extension is a strong sign of the club's ambition for the coming years.
"Since his arrival, Luc Steins has been able to impose his style and become a key leader in our team. Seeing him extend his contract through to 2029 is a strong sign of stability and ambition for the club. We are delighted to be able to continue building with him and to see him embody the future of Paris Saint-Germain Handball."
Thierry Omeyer, Paris Saint-Germain Handball General Manager
"I am extremely happy and proud to be extending my adventure with Paris Saint-Germain Handball. Since my arrival, I have found a club and a team where I feel at home. I am determined to continue working hard to achieve our common goals and bring even more success to this club that has given me so much. The future is bright, and I'm looking forward to this new stage alongside my team-mates."

About Paris Saint-Germain Handball
Founded in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain is the most successful club and sports franchise in France and one of the top clubs on the European stage. Owned by Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) since 2011, the club has achieved spectacular results on and off the pitch. Led by its first team, Paris Saint-Germain is an all-round, forward-thinking club with teams in esports, judo, women's football and handball.
Since its takeover by QSI in 2012, the handball section has become one of the top teams in European handball, winning 23 domestic titles and qualifying for the Final4 of the EHF Champions League six times in eight seasons. Over the years, the team has included some of the world's best players in its squad, including Mikkel Hansen, Luc Abalo, Thierry Omeyer, Daniel Narcisse and the Karabatic brothers, and has strengthened its position by developing young talent from its youth academy. This strategy has led to new records being set, such as the perfect season in the league in 2021-2022, with thirty wins in as many matches.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the whole of Paris Saint-Germain is committed to creating a positive social impact through PSG For Communities, with the intention of allocating funds and proposing initiatives dedicated to empowering disadvantaged young people.
