Paris Saint-Germain Academy partners with Urban Soccer to set up on Ile de Puteaux

An outstanding site and first-class facilities unrivalled in Paris

Following a tender won by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) and Urban Soccer, the official operator of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy in France, the Ile de Puteaux will provide the location for the Rouge & Bleu franchise’s head office and its most iconic site.

In 2020, over a thousand seven- to 14-year-olds will enjoy football training on the island in the Seine under the supervision of the club’s coaches. They will join the 7,000 children who have already enrolled at the Paris Saint-Germain Academy’s 20 centres in France (11 in the Ile-de-France region and the remaining nine in the provinces: Lille, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Grenoble, Dijon, Angers and Clermont-Ferrand).

“We share the same desire for excellence and performance as Urban Soccer,” said Nadia Benmokhtar, the head of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy programme. “We are delighted to give the children of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy the opportunity to live out their passion at this amazing location. We will work closely together to develop a football academy that will be open here all year round, while also organising training camps during the school holidays and elite competitions and training camps.

“The site is perfectly located, a stone’s throw from the centre of Paris, and that’s going to allow us to venture out into the international marketplace again and take the Paris Saint-Germain Academy methodology out to young fans around the world.”

“We are very proud to extend our collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain and to welcome the PSG Academy to this superb location,” said Julien Falgoux, the managing director of Urban Soccer. “Having been allocated a five-hectare site, Urban Soccer will build the biggest five-a-side football complex in France, with 16 five-a-side pitches (12 indoor and four outdoor) and two seven-a-side pitches, and offer our users first-rate facilities and an amazing experience befitting a club such as Paris Saint-Germain. Are added to this, 3 eleven-a-side pitches and 1 rugby field, for a unique multi-format offer”.

With a view to making it one of the French capital’s most popular sporting and leisure venues, Urban Soccer and the FFT have also worked with an environmental design firm in coming up with a responsible project that protects the island’s outstanding natural heritage.
