12,000 PARTICIPANTS IN THE INAUGURAL “WE RUN PARIS” RACE

Last weekend, Paris Saint-Germain made quite an impact with its first-ever “WE RUN PARIS” race. This brand-new initiative attracted around 12,000 runners, all categories combined, in the four children’s events held on the Saturday and the adults’ race on the Sunday. The success of this inaugural event suggests that “WE RUN PARIS” is set to become a key date in the Parisian running calendar.

This unique event, run on the roads through the French capital, brought together sports fans and fervent supporters of the Parisian club in a euphoric and convivial atmosphere. The participants had the opportunity to run through the streets of Paris to the Eiffel Tower, before making their way to the finish line in the heart of the Parc des Princes. All the way along this exceptional route, a variety of PSG-themed entertainment kept the runners motivated: messages from the Parisian players shown on giant screens, immersive tunnels with cheers from the club’s supporters, DJ sets, musicians and marching bands.

The 10km course was run in 29 minutes and 57 seconds by Valentin Witz, the winner of the men’s category, and in 34 minutes 27 seconds by two-time Olympic 800m champion and Nike ambassador Caster Semenya in the women’s.

One of the highlights of this memorable sporting event was the participation of former Paris Saint-Germain players Valdo, Marcos Ceará, Clément Chantôme, Laurent Fournier and Amara Simba, who shared their passion for running with the Parisian supporters, while Laure Boulleau provided the commentary for the race. Paris Saint-Germain also had a celebrity ambassador in its midst: Claude from reality TV programme Koh Lanta, who jogged across the Parisian tarmac with the other runners.

Paris Saint-Germain is proud to have brought the club’s fans and keen runners together at this superb inaugural event. The club hopes to make “WE RUN PARIS” a key date in the running diary, giving all runners the opportunity to enjoy a unique and unforgettable sporting experience in the heart of the City of Lights.

Paris Saint-Germain would like to thank all of the entrants, volunteers, partners and club legends for helping to make “WE RUN PARIS” such a success.
