STÉPHANIE LABBÉ RETIRES FROM SPORT

The 35-year-old Paris Saint-Germain player, who won the Olympic title last summer with Canada, is ending her professional career. The Club and Stéphanie Labbé have decided, by mutual agreement, to release the goalkeeper from the last months of her contract.

Stéphanie Labbé started her professional career at the age of 23 with Pieta IF (2009-2011) in Sweden, before joining KIF Orebro DFF (2011-2014).

After taking a career break, the Canadian international signed two seasons with the Washington Spirit (2016-2017). In 2018, she joined the Foothills men's team in Calgary (CAN), but league rules did not allow her to participate in matches.

The same year, the goalkeeper returned to Sweden for a few months, to wear the Linkopings shirt. She came back in the American league in the 2019-2020 season and won the NWSL title with the North Carolina Courage team.

From January 2021, she played for Swedish team Rosengard and signed for Paris Saint-Germain six months later.

With the Canadian team, Stéphanie Labbé was first selected in 2008. Eight years later, she won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio. Last summer, she won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

After more than 150 professional matches, the goalkeeper will have her last call-up with her national team next April.

Paris Saint-Germain congratulates Stéphanie Labbé for her entire career and wishes her all the best for her professional transition.
