Six gongs for Paris Saint-Germain at D1 Arkema’s end-of-season awards

At D1 Arkema’s end-of-season awards ceremony last night, Paris Saint-Germain picked up six honours, including Player of the Season for Tabitha Chawinga and the ‘Coup de Cœur’ award for the PSG for Communities programme ‘Allez Les Filles’.

TABITHA CHAWINGA NAMED AS PLAYER OF THE SEASON

As the league's current top scorer with 18 goals as well as its joint-top assist provider with ten assists, Tabitha Chawinga was named as the D1 Arkema Player of the Season for the 2023–2024 campaign. Voted for by the coaches and players of the French top flight, the Parisian forward was named ahead of teammate Grace Geyoro and Lyon’s Lindsey Horan.

The Malawi international has been recognised in just her first season in France, having already been crowned with the same award in China in 2018 and 2019, when she played for Jiangsu Suning, and in Italy in 2023 for Inter Milan.

It is the fourth year in a row that the award has been given to a Paris Saint-Germain player, following wins for Kadidiatou Diani (2021, 2023) and Marie-Antoinette Katoto (2022).

FOUR PLAYERS NAMED IN THE TEAM OF THE SEASON

Much like last year, four Parisians were named in the D1 Arkema Team of the Season: the aforementioned Chawinga as well as defenders Elisa De Almeida and Sakina Karchaoui and midfield captain Grace Geyoro.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Jocelyn Précheur, defender Thiniba Samoura and goalkeeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek were also nominated for the Coach of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Goalkeeper of the Season awards respectively.

The capital club also received the ‘Coup de Cœur’ award for the ‘Allez Les Filles’ programme, which is run by PSG for Communities. Created to help young girls between the ages of 11 and 16, the initiative organises cultural and sporting activities throughout the year as well as inspirational meetings with players from Paris Saint-Germain’s senior women’s team.
