Romane Dicko European Champion

The Paris Saint-Germain judoka was crowned +78kg European champion in Sofia (Bulgaria) on Sunday, 1 May.

Beating Raz Hershko in her weight category final, the Clamart-born (Hauts-de-Seine) athlete took the gold medal at the 2022 European Championship. The 22-year-old completed a continental hat-trick following her successes in Tel Aviv (Israel) in 2018 and Prague (Czech Republic) in 2020.

Romane Dicko, Olympic team champion and individual bronze medalist in Tokyo, defeated Czech Marketa Paulusova to start her competition, then  beat Poland's Kinga Wolszczak in the quarters, Turkey's Sebile Akbulut in the semi-final, and finally Israel's Raz Hershko to take gold.
