Paris Saint-Germain Judo on training camp in Tokyo
For the first time in its history, Paris Saint-Germain Judo will travel to the Japanese capital – where it will stay between 11th and 27thNovember 2024 – in order to prepare for its next major competition, the Champions League, which is set to take place in December.
As part of this unprecedented camp, the club’s judokas will carry out their daily training sessions at Tōkai University.
There, Paris Saint-Germain Judo will enjoy optimal conditions as the team prepares for the 2024 Champions League, which is scheduled to take place on 21st December 2024 in Montpellier.
The Paris delegation will additionally include the judo section’s president, Djamel Bouras, as well as its three coaches: Damiano Martinuzzi, Baptiste Leroy and Nicolas Mossion.
Les Rouge et Bleu will also use their stay in Tokyo to meet the club’s fans and to discover some of the Japanese capital’s iconic locations.
With its women’s team winning the Champions League and its men’s team finishing as the European runners-up in 2023, Paris Saint-Germain Judo will again take on the continent’s top clubs this year.
Having historically been divided into men’s and women’s events, the competition will adopt the Olympic format for the first time ever in 2024, when each competing club will put forward a mixed team.
“We’re delighted to be going to Tokyo, and we can’t wait. This training camp will give us an exceptional environment in which to do some intensive training and to optimise our preparations for the Champions League. We’re also going there to strengthen our team spirit and our togetherness, which will be essential assets for excelling in this competition. This trip is also a chance for the club to assert its deep attachment to Japan, which is the birthplace of judo."
Djamel Bouras, President of Paris Saint-Germain Judo
