Marie-Ève Gahié becomes European Champion

The Paris Saint-Germain judoka has become the -70kg European champion, on Saturday 30 April, in Sofia (Bulgaria).

The 25-year-old Parisian defeated title holder Sanne Van Dijke in the final to win the gold medal at the 2022 European Championships. The Rouge et Bleu judoka wins the continental title for the first time in her career, after two bronze medals in 2017 and 2020 in this same competition.

Marie-Ève Gahié, World Champion in Tokyo in 2019, successively disposed of Italy's Irene Pedrotti in the first round, Ukraine's Nataliia Chystiakova in the second round, her compatriot Margaux Pinot in the quarter-finals and, finally, the Dutch Hilde Jager and Sanne Van Dijke in the semi-finals and final respectively.
