Marie-Eve Gahié extends her contract with Paris Saint-Germain Judo

Paris Saint-Germain Judo is delighted to announce Marie-Ève Gahié has extended her contract by two seasons. The 2022 European champion, who competes in the under 70kg category, is now tied to the Club until 31 August 2024.

Marie-Eve Gahié won her first major title in 2013, in Miami, becoming world junior champion. She then won gold at the 2016 European junior championships in Malaga (Spain), before claiming the senior French title a few months later. At the world championships in Baku (Azerbaijan) in 2018, she won individual and team silver medals.

In 2019, at just 22, the Paris-born judoka was crowned world champion in Tokyo and picked up a second global team silver.

Last season, Marie-Ève Gahié shone in the colours of Paris Saint-Germain in team victories in the Europa League in Prague (Czech Republic) in December 2021, and then in the French championships 1st division last May in Villebon-sur-Yvette (Essonne).

With the France team, the 25-year-old became European champion for the first time in her career in Sofia (Bulgaria) in April.

“For a Parisian like me, I’m immensely proud to compete for Paris Saint-Germain,” said Marie-Eve Gahié after signing her new contract. “I would like to thank Djamel Bouras and the whole of our staff for the faith they have shown in me. We have a very good group with multi-medallists such as Teddy Riner, Amandine Buchard and Romane Dicko. I’m very much looking forward to seeing them again in the Club’s dojo. We have some great challenges in the upcoming season, and I’ll be particularly determined to give my best in the upcoming world championships in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).”

“Marie-Ève is coming off a very good season with both the France and our Club team,” said  Djamel Bouras, President of Paris Saint-Germain Judo. “Given her performances over the last 12 months, a contract extension was the logical next step. She won the European championship after a solid run in the competition, and she has also been a key part of our various team competitions, both nationally and internationally. I’m very proud of the way she has progressed with us. She is now one of the very best in her category. We’re going to keep helping her improve and achieve the goals she has set herself for the years to come.”
