European double for Paris Saint-Germain Judo

Paris Saint-Germain Judo achieved a historic double at the Europa League - Club Championships on Saturday 11 December. The men's and women's teams both won the final of the competition in the Czech capital Prague, marking the capital club’s return to the European scene.

The Red and Blue triumph at the UNYP Arena in Prague.

The PSG Judo women's team, led by Tokyo Olympic medallists Amandine Buchard and Romane Dicko, showed no nerves in final against Russia’s Ekaterinburg Club, winning 5-0.

A few minutes later, it was the turn of the men's team to win their final, in a fully French clash against SGS Sports (4-1).

Coached by Nicolas Mossion, Julien Boussuge and Florent Urani, Paris Saint-Germain Judo is now evoking the club’s golden era, such as winning the same 1995 continental title, then including the current Chairman of the judo section, Djamel Bouras, Olympic champion in 1996 (-78 kg).

“I am extremely proud of the performance of our judokas today," said Djamel Bouras, Chairman of Paris Saint-Germain Judo. “They all performed exceptionally well and were all up to the challenge. In addition to the athletes, I would like to pay tribute to the work of the staff, who managed to unite this group and lead it to victory. I would like to thank the entire Club, which supports us on a daily basis, and our President Nasser Al-Khelaifi who believed in our project. With this double success, the Paris Saint-Germain continues to grow in strength and can ambitiously look forward to the next few years.”
