Amandine Buchard joins Paris Saint-Germain Judo

Paris Saint-Germain Judo is delighted to announce the signature of Amandine Buchard for the 2021/22 season. The Tokyo Olympic silver medalist, who competes in the under-52 category, is tied to the Club until 31 August 2024.

Amandine Buchard started in the under-48kg category and completed a national youth-junior-senior title hat-trick aged just 17. She won world bronze two years later in Chelyabinsk, Russia, in 2014, her first global senior podium finish.

She then changed category, becoming one of the world's leading under-52kg judoka, winning a European title in April 2021 in Lisbon.

Last July, the athlete who hails from the Paris suburb of Noisy-le-Sec took the Olympic silver medal in Japan. She also won the gold medal in the mixed team category alongside two other Parisians, Romane Dicko and Teddy Riner.

"It's a very special day for me," Amandine Buchard said after signing her contract. "I'm very happy to have the chance to join such an ambitious club, one which has enjoyed a remarkable evolution in recent years. With the quality of the staff and the other judoka, I can harbour big ambitions and keep growing. Together, there are some great pages in Paris Saint-Germain's history to write."

"The club is delighted to welcome Amandine," said Djamel Bouras, the Paris Saint-Germain Judo President. "Her recent performance in Tokyo only confirmed her incredible potential. She's an athlete with an irreproachable attitude and rare talent. She's certain to be one of the leading figures of world judo in the years to come and notably at the 2024 Paris Olympics where she'll be going for gold."
