Raul Gonzalez extends his contract with Paris Saint-Germain Handball

Paris Saint-Germain Handball is pleased to announce that Raul Gonzalez has extended his contract for two more seasons. The Spanish coach is now committed to the Club until June 2025.

Raul Gonzalez joined Paris in July 2018, after four years in charge of Vardar Skopje (Macedonia). The Spaniard, who is currently in his fifth season with the Rouge et Bleu, has helped the club from the capital add eight trophies to its trophy cabinet: four consecutive French leagues (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), two Coupes de France (2021, 2022), a Coupe de la Ligue (2019) and a Trophée des Champions (2019).

On the Paris bench, the 53-year-old has won 86% of his matches in all competitions. This is the best ratio for a coach in the history of the club from the capital.

Under his leadership, Paris Saint-Germain Handball achieved the perfect season in the 2021-2022 championship with thirty victories in as many games. This is an unprecedented record for a men's team among the most popular team sports (basketball, football, handball, rugby and volleyball). Another record was set by the Rouge et Bleu during this season: 30 or more goals scored per game and an average of 36.72 goals per match.

« We are very pleased to announce Raul Gonzalez’s contract extension as coach of Paris Saint-Germain Handball. Raul is one of the best tacticians in the world, known for his great experience, rigor and outstanding professionalism. Under Raul’s leadership, we have made amazing progress as a team, and we share great ambitions for Paris Saint-Germain Handball to continue to shine at the highest level. »

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President-Director of Paris Saint-Germain

« To continue the adventure with Paris Saint-Germain Handball is an honour. I am proud to be able to continue the work that started in 2018 and to embody the future of the Club for two more seasons. With the management, we have great ambitions for the future. I am as determined as ever to make our team perform at national and continental level, to have great moments with our supporters and to enrich our record of achievements. This will be our goal in the second half of the season. »
