Paris Saint-Germain Handball win their ninth French title

Following their Liqui Moly Starligue Round 25 win over Montpellier Handball on Friday, 6 May (37-33), Paris Saint-Germain were crowned Champions of France 2021-2022.

With an 11-point lead over nearest chasers HBC Nantes, Luka Karabatic and his teammates clinched the ninth league title in Club history and its eighth in a row. Les Rouge et Bleu thus beat their own record.

With 25 victories from as many league matches, the capital club continued their record-breaking season. No club had, until now, managed a perfect run through to this stage of the competition.

"Our Club continues to make the history in this sport,"
said Jean-Claude Blanc, the deputy chief officer of Paris Saint-Germain. "We must pay tribute to our players, our staff, to all the employees of the Club involved in handball who have always known how to demonstrate exemplary requirements and will. I don’t forget our loyal supporters who help players to surpass themselves. These are all the ingredients that have enabled us to achieve unprecedented longevity and win this French Championship title and the eight in a row. This achievement is the first step towards an exciting end of season. Our players will have great new challenges to face in the weeks to come with performances that I hope will make the Paris Saint-Germain family even more thrilled."
