Paris Saint-Germain Handball set to make 6th Champions League Final4 appearance

Thanks to their 2nd leg quarter-final win over German side THW Kiel this evening (32-29), Paris Saint-Germain will compete in the EHF FINAL4 2023 in Cologne on 17th and 18th June. It will be the capital club’s sixth appearance at this stage of the competition and their third across the last four seasons.

After winning the first leg 31-27 at the Wunderino Arena in Kiel last Wednesday, Les Rouge et Bleu held onto their lead in the second leg (32-29), in Stade Pierre-de-Coubertin. Raúl González’s men have therefore booked their place in the EHF FINAL4, which will take place at the Lanxess Arena on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June.

Paris Saint-Germain Handball will be taking part in the Champions League FINAL4 for the sixth time in their history, with only FC Barcelona (ten FINAL4 appearances) and THW Kiel (seven FINAL4 appearances) doing better.

Across their last five semi-final appearances, Paris Saint-Germain reached the final in 2017 and finished third on four occasions (in 2018, 2020 and 2021).

« Tonight is a fantastic night for Paris Saint-Germain Handball and for our whole Club. I am very proud of the performance of our players who showed great teamwork, mental strength and commitment – which I ask of all our PSG teams.

This is the 6th time we have reached the Final4, showing our consistency at top level of the sport. It is also reward for the great work by Raul Gonzalez, his staff and the whole team.

We now need to continue our focus, match by match, all the way to the end of this exciting season, both in French League and Champions League. »

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President & CEO of Paris Saint-Germain
