David Balaguer signs with Paris Saint-Germain Handball through to 2024
Paris Saint-Germain are pleased to announce the signing of David Balaguer as of July 2022. The 30-year-old right-winger will be linked to the capital club for two seasons.
David Balaguer is a native of Barcelona and has won three Spanish league titles with his parent club FC Barcelona. With the Blaugrana, he also won the Copa del Rey and two Spanish Supercups.
After arriving in France, at Nantes, in 2015, the Spanish international won a Coupe de France and a Trophée des Champions in 2017. The following season, he reached the Champions League final with his HBC teammates. With Nantes, David Balaguer has scored 909 goals.
With his national team, the right-winger was crowned European champion in 2018, alongside future Paris Saint-Germain Handball teammate Ferran Solé. He has 109 goals in 36 appearances for La Roja.
"Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a new milestone in my career," said Balaguer after inking his deal. "I am joining the club that has been the best in France for almost a decade. I have been able to see this quality even more by having played in the Starligue for the last six years. Paris are also a major club in Europe, definitely in the top five, and I am proud to be able to contribute to this great and ambitious team."
"We are delighted to be able to welcome David Balaguer to our squad as of the summer of 2022," said Jean-Claude Blanc, Paris Saint-Germain's General Manager. "We were able to see the full extent of his talent and strength of character during our matches against Nantes, who have been one of our main rivals on the national scene. It is therefore a real satisfaction to know that he will strengthen the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain for several seasons and bring even more experience to the benefit of our talented squad."
