Xavi Simons loaned to RB Leipzig

The Dutch midfielder has again been loaned to RB Leipzig without a purchase clause for the 2024-25 season following a successful 2023-24 campaign with the Bundesliga club.

Born in Amsterdam on 21 April 2003, Xavi Simons signed his first professional contract when he joined Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona in summer 2019. In February 2021, he made his first-team debut with PSG in a Coupe de France match with SM Caen.

In July 2022, after 11 appearances and one assist in all competitions for the Rouge et Bleu, the attacking midfielder joined PSV Eindhoven. He enjoyed an exceptional season with the Dutch club, tallying 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches. He was the Eredivisie’s joint-top-scorer with 19 goals and won both the Dutch Super Cup and the Dutch Cup.

Following his return to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer 2023 transfer window, the now 21-year-old right-footer headed to Germany to join RB Leipzig. In the Bundesliga, he confirmed his excellent progress with 10 goals and 15 assists in all competitions in 2023-24. He also made his Champions League debut (2 goals), helping Leipzig reach the Round of 16.

Those performances enabled Xavi Simons to join the Netherlands’ senior team, earning his debut in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Round of 16 game with the USA. For De Oranje, he currently has 20 caps and two goals, one of which he scored in the UEFA EURO 2024 semi-final against England.

Paris Saint-Germain would like to wish Xavi a great season with RB Leipzig.
