Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team visits patients at Necker Hospital for sick children - AP-HP
Following on from the PSG Handball players’ visit last January, yesterday Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team paid a visit to the young patients at the Necker Hospital for Sick Children – AP-HP. As part of the agreement signed in 2012 between the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation and the Necker Hospital for Sick Children – AP-HP, Paris Saint-Germain’s three professional teams visit the hospital every year.
In small groups, the players spent some time with the children in their hospital rooms. It was an opportunity to chat with them, bond with them, take some photos and give out gifts. These visits are eagerly awaited by the young patients and their parents, and indeed the medical staff who care for the children on a daily basis.
All of the members of the women’s squad attended this emotional event, which gives the players a boost and inspires them as they prepare for their forthcoming fixtures, namely their Champions League quarterfinal match against Chelsea.
“Taking part in this visit for the first time with my teammates was really emotional. The children’s situation really touches me, they are a great example of strength and determination for everyone,” said Nadia Nadim, who came to Paris Saint-Germain this season. “This wonderful human experience has motivated us all for our forthcoming matches.”
Sabrina Delannoy, Deputy Manager of the Paris Saint Saint-Germain Foundation, added, “It was a very emotional day for all of the players and staff present today. Magical moments, a breath of fresh air for these children, some of whom have been in hospital for a long time. This partnership with the Necker Hospital for Sick Children is very important to us, and we will continue to organise this kind of operation, which gives both the children and the adults a boost.”

About Paris Saint-Germain – Children First:
The Paris Saint-Germain Foundation was founded in 2000 and was the first corporate foundation to be created by a French sports club. It provides support for vulnerable or sick children, young people and disadvantaged communities.
When Nasser Al Khelaifi took over as president of the Foundation in 2012, he enabled it to step up its work and an endowment fund was created to receive donations.
Over the last 19 years, more than 220,000 children and young adults have benefitted from the programmes set up by the Foundation and/or the Paris Saint-Germain endowment fund.
Today, the endowment fund and the Foundation have been brought together under one name, Children First.
We run educational and sporting programmes in France and abroad, using sport and its values to help youngsters to learn, blossom and become upstanding members of the community.
Our main missions:
• To bring comfort to sick children: The three professional teams’ eagerly-awaited visits to hospitals in the greater Paris region provide a ray of sunshine in these children’s lives, as do the invitations to come and meet the players at the stadium and training centre.
• To reach out to underprivileged children: Our instructors work at ground level, taking part in targeted programmes: “Allez les filles!”, which we will talk about later, “Children’s Day” and “PSG Holidays”. The ROUGE & BLEU School project, an innovative after-school programme that combines sporting, educational and cultural activities, helps the children to flourish and succeed at school.
• We also run programmes to accompany young people in their social and professional integration: More than 300 educators have come through our programmes.
Finally, we provide support to people in difficulty: We have joined forces with charities such as the Secours Populaire and NGOs such as Action Contre la Faim to help disadvantaged populations in France and worldwide.
Ambassadors of our values, all of Paris Saint-Germain’s players actively support our actions. Thanks to sport and our teams’ commitment, we are able to treat the children we support all year round to some magical experiences.
