Paris Saint Germain celebrate the Rio Carnival

On Sunday 3rd March, Paris Saint-Germain partied with the club’s Brazilian fans at an original activation event organised during the Rio Carnival.

Along with over 6,000 people, Paris Saint-Germain joined the traditional "Toca Rauuul” street parade to celebrate the most important festival of the year in Brazil. Former Brazilian footballer Alex Dias, who was delighted to be invited to the event, enjoyed the celebrations alongside the Parisian fans.

Concerts, a carnival giant dressed in the club’s strip, official goodies and plenty of other surprises kept the party going for several hours in the historic centre of Rio de Janeiro. The two winners of a photo competition for the best costume were awarded a shirt signed by Neymar and Thiago Silva.

This initiative is further proof of Paris Saint-Germain’s strong bond with Brazil and its supporters. The club boasts more than four million Brazilian fans on social media. Paris Saint-Germain also took part in last year’s Rio Carnival, when a plane trailing the club’s banner flew over Rio de Janeiro’s beaches to wish all Brazilians a happy Carnival.

Alex Dias, a former player for Paris Saint-Germain, said:

"It was a fantastic event. I’d like to thank Paris Saint-Germain for having made such an effort. Carnival is an important celebration for Brazilian people, it was a magical experience. I was able to meet a number of Brazilian fans and French fans from Paris today, there were a lot of people. This event can only have a positive effect on the development of the Paris Saint-Germain brand in Brazil."
