AN EPIC THIRD EDITION OF THE PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN ACADEMY CUP IN BRAZIL

Brazil, 20^th December 2021. Held in the Arena das Dunas – the legendary stadium in Natal, Brazil – from 14^th to 19^th December 2021, the third edition of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Cup brought together more than 750 young athletes aged between 7 and 13. After an uplifting tournament with a euphoric atmosphere, the Natal centre stood out by winning four trophies in four age categories.

 

After two successful editions in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, this competition was the largest gathering of young players from Paris Saint-Germain’s network of Academies in the 2021-2022 season.

 

Over four days, 750 children from Brazil’s 16 PSG Academies flew the flag for Paris Saint-Germain in more than 230 matches contested by 63 teams. More than 2,000 spectators and chaperones were on hand to cheer them on. The enthusiasm of everyone involved proved the PSG Academies’ increasing popularity in Brazil.

 

Nadia Benmokhtar, Manager of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, announced: “Football is many young Brazilians’ favourite sport! Thanks to our network of PSG Academies in Brazil – one of the world’s largest – we are giving these youngsters the opportunity to live their passion to the full and develop their talent, guided by the Foundation’s coaches. New PSG Academy projects are being introduced every year in Brazil. The success of this third edition encourages us to continue in this vein!”

 

The Paris Saint-Germain Academy is now present on 21 sites located in 16 cities (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Guarulhos, Sumaré, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Florianópolis, Porto Alegre, Vale dos Sinos, Vitória, Recife, Teresina, Natal, Fortaleza, Villas and Salvador). With 5,500 children, Brazil now boasts the second largest national contingent of Paris Saint-Germain Academies, after France. Three new Academies were opened in 2021, helping to make this competition an even more lively event. What is more, 15 new sites are due to be opened in Brazil in early 2022.

The PSG Academy is a network of 123 football schools located in 15 different countries. It gives football, handball – and now Esports – fans an opportunity to live their passion to the full and develop their skills with Paris Saint-Germain, who are well-known for their expertise and high-quality training.
